Mobile Marketing is the Future

Neilsen has reported that nearly 1/2 of Americans are already using smart phones and almost twenty percent are using tablet computers, we decided to take a quick look at how these new devices are changing our lives. Some consumers are so addicted to online shopping they even do it during their most intimate moments!

Shopping has gone mobile

Nielsen’s most recent mobile study didn’t produce surprising results but did confirm what we already know. People like to shop. And they will shop no matter what device they are using. Nielsen reports that nearly 80% of smartphone and tablet users are taking advantage of those devices for shopping-related activities. Easy access to reviews, price checks, store locations and hours, testimonials about products, finding coupons and daily deal sites are some of the most popular activities when using mobile devices.

Smartphone users are using their phone to find just about everything they need. Long gone are the days of price shopping by calling around to every store in town. Now consumers are still on their phone but are accessing the thousands of stores online to find the perfect sweet spot between the actual price, reviews, and shipping costs. Many savy shoppers bring that pricing into a local store to see if they can price match.

As the average age of the online consumer begins to rise more and more online stores and advertisers are going to be crowding that lucrative ad space with their own branding. To stay ahead of the curve the savvy business owner needs to be ahead of the competition by investing and testing the waters now before the rest catch up. Learning what appeals to their customers online and creating a holistic marketing plan is the only way to future proof a business.
